Membership to the euro area
ANDORRA
The information is official and comes directly from the European Commission. Andorra has finally signed an agreement with the European Commission for the Euro to be in circulation on 1st July 2013 in this micro-state.
The issue volume which has beens decided is 2.3 million coins. The principality will be able to choose freely the institute that will mint the coins.
LATVIA
The coins of Latvia have not yet legal tender, but should come into circulation in the euro area in 2014 when the euro replaces the national currency, the lats.
LITHUANIA
The coins of Lithuania will have a legal tender in the euro area between 2012 and 2015. The euro will replace the national currency, the Litas.
The design of these pieces was announced on 11th November 2004. They have been created by the artist Antanas Žukauskas.
